This course presents an in-depth analysis of advanced accounting topics. It focuses on the exploration of the core technical capabilities to prepare and analyse financial reports for combined entities, as well as the rationales behind various accounting principles and standards relating to financial reporting. The main topics include the conceptual and regulatory framework for financial reporting, business combination, fair value measurement, consolidated financial statements, intra-group transactions, investment in associates and joint-ventures, foreign currency transactions and translation of statements of a foreign subsidiary, and related party disclosure. The local business environment and legal requirements are referred to within the discussions.
