The course aims at providing students with knowledge on healthy lifestyle, and suggestions on how to develop an exercise habit, and how racket sports such as badminton and flyball can contribute as life-long physical activities. Flyball is a newly developed sport from Taiwan which builds on the techniques of badminton, tennis, and baseball. Abilities to control the wrist and overhead movements are keys to play flyball and badminton; students could potentially transfer the techniques for badminton into playing flyball, and thus be able to participate in this new sport easily. This course will acquaint students with the basic skills and knowledge of badminton and flyball. Students will be led to apply fundamental sports science knowledge in analysing and enhancing their performance. The course also provides students with an understanding of the training methods for both games and also the health benefits from its regular participation. Through a lot of hands-on experiences with both games, students will develop the sense of self-efficacy in adopting racket sports as their lifetime pursuit for enhancing healthy lifestyle.
