The SMA Studio Project IA is the first studio course that prepares students to engage in their professional studio practices. The course leads students through artistic research, contemporary art issue enquiries and eventually to plan and propose a complete studio project. The course will be conducted in form of seminar, tutorial supervision and independent studio practice within a concentration-based tutorial group under the guidance of a supervisory team.

Knowledge and skills in a variety of professional aspects as well as different creative approaches will be discussed throughout the course. The outcomes will be a formal project proposal, an execution plan and a series of prototype tests with different materials and media. The results will form the working foundation for further execution in the SMA Studio Project IB.
