This is a foundation course on photographic lighting and the digital workflow. Based on the knowledge from Digital Photography, the course will introduce principles in photographic lighting and studio lighting, including ambient light, location lighting and artificial lighting.
Students will acquire knowledge and technique in lighting and photography in particular in genres such as portraiture, still life and cityscape. Students will further explore how to use lighting conceptually and to create visual narrative through light. Coursework is designed to enhance students’ ability in conceptualising a lens media artwork in the context of contemporary art. Upon completing the course, students are expected to be both technically and intellectually prepared for higher-level media arts related courses.
