VART2446 Analogue Photography (1.5 units)

This is a foundation course on analogue photography and related lens media. It is built on foundation knowledge in digital photography, which it employs as students revisit analogue photography. Technical knowledge, and creative principle and methods in analogue photography will be taught to sharpen student’s understanding in photography.
Students will explore and experiment with the analogue imaging process. Technical workshops on camera obscura, film development and darkroom printing will be provided. Coursework is designed to enhance students’ ability in conceptualising and presenting photography in the context of contemporary art. Upon completing this course, students are expected to be both technically intellectually prepared to higher-level media arts related courses.
