This course is designed for social sciences graduate students. It aims to develop in students a basic level of competence in research and to enhance their awareness of the various skills and strategies required in writing academic, policy, and business research papers. In addition to introducing the essential components and requirements for research, the course addresses various elements in the processes of writing and presentation. Through lectures, readings, class discussions, group research and writing projects, students will be equipped with knowledge and skills that allow them to approach various forms of writing and research more systematically and with greater confidence, and to write persuasive proses with organization and clarity. The core research and writing skills students develop in this course will serve them across all academic disciplines in humanities and social sciences and in workplaces.
