RELI3137 Confucianism (3 units)
This course aims to introduce students to Confucian teachings and practices in China. This introductory course has three main goals: (1) to provide basic knowledge of Confucianism, and systematically discuss fundamental philosophical and relegious issues in this tradition; (2) to focus on how Confucianism has shaped Chinese ways of life; and (3) to study how Confucianism responds to different social, religious, cultural and ethical issues in the modern world. The approaches taken are both historical and comparative.
