Hong Kong is a well-established hub for numerous leading regional and international services and businesses. Much of the growth of the service sector is fuelled by the strong presence of the world’s leading financial institutions and multinational corporations. Financial Communications (FC) is specialised and integrated communication efforts for financial-related enterprises to reach their target audiences. FC practitioners serve as the bridge between listed companies, IPO (initial public offering) issuers, financial institutions as well as their specialists (e.g., analysts, accountants, lawyers) and their stakeholders. They facilitate the communication process by transforming the banal financial information into more interesting and comprehensible investment stories to the investors and media while observing the factual integrity, listing rules and ensure that media coverage of the process reflects positive images of the institutions through a strategic communication program. Their role is especially important given the essential task of cultivating trust and interpersonal relations in the process of financial marketing and communications with various types of investors.
