POLS7160 Theories of Public Administration (3 units)

This course is designed for graduate students for a basic introduction to public administration including its practice, themes and values, and contemporary challenges. The topical issues are arranged to help students develop the knowledge, insights and skills necessary to manage and lead public organisations. We will begin with a discussion of the theories of public administration and move to some subfields in public administration., such as decision making, public policy design, implementation, and evaluation. We will also examine the management, leadership, and personnel roles within organisations. In particular, we also focus on the context of China. This course is designed as a "hybrid" course that will involve lectures, student presentations, group discussion, research and assignments.
