LLAW2007 Entertainment Law (3 units)

This course aims to provide essential legal knowledge to prospective practitioners in the entertainment industry. Students will be introduced to the major legislation and cases, and legal issues pertaining to the publishing, film, music, dancing, and broadcast industries. This course covers the following areas: contract, advertising, protection of ideas (by contract, copyright, and trademark), rights of publicity and privacy, defamation, and artist representation. This course also equips students with a working understanding of practice of legal negotiating deals in different roles in the entertainment industry.
