This course aims to help students better understand the field of mental health and develop an interest in covering mental health as a beat. Students will learn, analyse and discuss mental health in journalism and be equipped with the knowledge, language, sense and sensibility for working with sources to generate ethical, responsible and credible news reports. Students will also learn how the unique job of journalism can impact mental health both in the field and in the newsroom and learn strategies for coping with common mental health issues impacting journalists.
