JOUR2117 Broadcast Reporting and Production (3 units)

This is one of the two introductory broadcast journalism major core courses for all journalism students to choose from. It provides students with the basic theoretical and practical training required to produce broadcast news for mainly radio and television, including both their conventional and digital or multimedia platforms. The emphasis is on mastery of basic broadcast principles and skills in conducting research, script-writing, visual and audio storytelling as well as using recording equipment and the relevant software. Students will be expected to apply the knowledge and skills acquired, including conducting research, writing the script, recording, filming and producing, to produce a simple story for broadcast on different platforms of radio and television.
