This course attempts to provide some hints to questions related to urban planning by adopting two complementary approaches: a historical analysis and empirical analysis. It prepares students for more advanced courses in urban analysis. Students are expected to know what are the concerns of urban planners? How do they make sense of the problems? What sorts of skills are required of urban planning professionals? What are the effects of the urban planning process on the development of a sustainable and resilient future?
