GEOG4016 Sustainable Energy and Technological Innovation in China (3 units)

This course aims to examine and analyse China’s energy policies and technological options in responses to sustainability challenges posed by the interactions between energy, environment, economy and society. The main objectives of this course are (1) to enable students to develop a critical perspective on the technological developments and sustainability implications of different energy options in China; (2) to enable students to develop an understanding of China’s energy policy-making system with a focus on the technological innovation sector; (3) to enable students to develop a global perspective as well as local understandings of China’s energy issues and policy responses; and (4) to develop students with analytical skills of energy issues and policies in China.
