This is an experiential learning course.
This is a four-week summer course, half of which takes place at Tsinghua University, Beijing. The course is conducted largely in Putonghua. It offers students the opportunities to experience the society, culture and their changes in Beijing, the capital of China. Not only does it allow students to understand the transformation of the country through first-hand experience, but also to compare and contrast theories and classroom knowledge to the real world from an interdisciplinary perspective. The course collaborates with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Humanities of Tsinghua University and draws upon their expertise in the subject area. When in Beijing, students are required to stay in the campus of the university throughout the course. This arrangement provides students with the opportunities to interact with students, scholars, and ordinary people in Beijing.
