GAME3025 Motion Capture for Game and Animation (3 units)

This course is designed to introduce motion capture creation and technology as they apply to video game design, animation and film production, from both an academic and studio perspective.
This course provides foundational knowledge of computer graphics and aims to equip the students with principles in three major areas (1) 3D basics of character modelling and rigging for motion capture; (2) technical skills like preparing the capture space and technical requirements for motion capture; and (3) leadership skills of directing actors, preparing stunts and leading a motion capture crew.
The students will learn both technically and artistically integration of motion capture performance from actors to be integrated with animation and simulation in 3D environments for games and animation.
