GAME2015 Game Narrative and Storyboarding (3 units)
- Medium of Instruction:
- English
This course aims to equip students with the principles and skills to develop games or animated stories with dramatic and emotional impacts. The students will learn to develop a structured game or animated concept: create an idea, communicate the idea efficiently with visual language, and develop and visualize the concept with design documents, flowcharts and storyboards. This course will challenge students to use only images to create imaginative narrative games and stories.
The focus of the game narrative and storytelling will be on developing a game concept and transform it into a working design document with clear descriptions of gameplay, level design, and key art storyboards. The focus of animation narrative and storytelling will be on the development of taking a narrative concept and depicting it with images in a sequential frame storyboard and then an animatic. By the end of the course, students will be able to present their game or story ideas vividly, primarily through visual means.
