GAME2007 Game and Animation Production Workshop (3 units)
- Medium of Instruction:
- English
This course explores the world of 3D computer gaming design and animation from initial concept to final production. It introduces the language, principles, aesthetics and 3D tools used in the creation of game and animation within the context of art and design. This will be conducted through the process of making a short game or animated film.
The course is organised to maximise hands-on experience and will include numerous in-class exercises. Because of this, participation in weekly classes is extremely important and is considered in grading calculations. Emphasis will be placed on developing a working knowledge of the mechanics of 3D game design and animation. By the completion of the course, students will become acquainted with the necessary skills sufficient to produce projects of merit.
Students will work on an ongoing project throughout the semester with different milestones representing different homework assignments and culminating in the final project. At the beginning of the semester students will be given an opportunity to choose a project in Game Design or Film Production. Various exercises will address both game design and animation principles requiring all students to participate in both areas while the final project will only cover animation for Film Production or Game Design.
