This level 1 course is designed for, but not limited to, students who aim to be admitted to the BSocSc (Hons) in European Studies (either French or German) in Year 1, Semester 2.

Through an overview of different types of films and filmmaking practice of French and German cinema, students will familiarise themselves with cultural, socio-economic, political and historical trends in contemporary France and Germany. In-class analyses and discussions about the film content will enable students to gain an understanding of French and German societies.

This course does not require any knowledge in French or German.
