This course aims to help students identify and discuss characteristics and types of dystopias as illustrated through a range of cultural expressions (fiction, film, art, photography, current events, politics, etc.). Students are also encouraged to analyse and critique dystopian texts through various lenses (political, cultural, moral, contemporary, and literary) and through various means (papers, discussions, group presentations).
