This course introduces students to the curriculum and content of science education in Hong Kong primary school settings. Students will also learn about instructional and assessment strategies, and develop teaching plans and learning materials for this subject. The role of science education in the primary curriculum, and its connection with STEM education will also be discussed.

Specifically, this course aims to (1) develop students' understanding of the aims and objectives of science education, in connection with STEM education; (2) advance students' concept of effective teaching of science and related topics; (3) enhance students' ability to develop pedagogic resources and assessment items for science education; and (4) strengthen students ability to reflect on their own teaching and to improve upon it.
