ECON4027 Financial Markets and Corporate Governance in China (3 units)
This course is designed to introduce the financial and corporate governance environment in China, and evaluate its contribution to economic development. The course covers the development of financial markets and the resulted corporate governance mechanism in China. It introduces the theoretical as well as empirical framework for the analysis of the impact of corporate governance and financial markets in China, so as to evaluate the corresponding economic contributions and challenges. Important issues regarding the financial interaction between China and the global economy would also be evaluated. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to have basic understanding on the contribution of financial and corporate governance reform in Chinese economic growth; and to be able to evaluate policies and potential challenges on the financial markets and corporate governance in China.
