BUS 7520 Learning in the Field (3 units)
Engaging students in a dynamic exploration of the local and global business landscape, this course fosters adaptability and cross-cultural understanding. Students explore the business landscape, gaining insights into the background of the firms and organisations to be visited. The ultimate goal is for students to synthesise their observations and analyses into comprehensive group and individual reports. Destinations can span the globe, providing a rich tapestry of business environments and diverse cultural contexts.
In instances where an overseas location is selected for a specific cohort, arrangements are made for students facing travel constraints, such as visa-related issues or other justifiable reasons. Under the guidance of the Programme Director, these students may choose to complete the Learning in the Field experience in China. This alternative involves achieving the same four learning outcomes through a thorough analysis of a Chinese business region.
The process includes supervised visits to local firms and organisations, culminating in the creation of two essential reports, either on an individual or small group basis. This flexibility ensures that all students can fully participate in the course, regardless of travel limitations.
