BMSC4899 Honours Project II (3 units)

The aim of the honours project is to provide students with firsthand experience on scientific or scholarly research. Each student will conduct an independent research project under the supervision of a teaching staff of the School of Chinese Medicine. The topic of the project will be determined upon the discussion between the student and the supervisor in an area related to Biomedical Science or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Formats of the projects include laboratory-based study, epidemiological and clinical study, TCM literature study, systematic review and meta-analysis. During the span of the project, students will acquire the knowledge of research methodology in their subject areas and develop skills for professional thesis writing and oral presentation. Upon completion of the projects, student should be capable of searching databases and research papers and should have acquired the ability to design research study plans and analyse data. The findings of the studies will be reported in dissertations and presented in oral presentations.
