ARTT4006 Arts Tech Honours Project (7 units)
- Prerequisite:
- Year 4 standing
The Honours Project is a self-assigned practice-based research project pursued through independent studies by individual students aiming at a professional career in the art tech sectors. It is intended as a capstone experience for students to demonstrate their achievement of the graduate attributes as defined by the BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology programme and the university.
The Honours Project provides a keystone experience giving students the opportunity to prove their capability of solving independently and self-reliantly a self-generated assignment in the work field of arts and technology. They will apply the concepts and skills gained in the programme to the investigation. In successfully doing so the student will meet academic and creative standards that allow the university to confer the BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology Degree on them.
To provide Honours Project students with guidance as well as an academic setting, they are assigned Honours Project supervisors that fits the Honours Project’s thematic directions, medium of choice or other considerations. It is expected that they work in the studio on campus as much as feasible, utilising the available facilities and equipment, while at the same time contributing their expertise and efforts to the environment and culture of that studio area.
Students may also choose to carry their work or research in partnership with a professional company or institution related to arts and technology sector.
The Honours Project by requirement should be part of the concentration pursued and needs to be taken within one of the studio areas explored before. Under normal circumstances, the outcomes of the Honours Project – in particular the creative work – are required to be exhibited to the public within the annual Graduation Show.
The Honours Project is worth 10 units; every BASc (Hons) in Arts and Technology student is required to complete it usually in their final year of studies. Further details concerning the Honours Project are elaborated in the Honours Project Regulations.
