This is a foundation course on digital photography and related lens media. The essential foundation provided in this course is not merely technical skill but also conceptualisation of ideas informed by creative process. Both technical knowledge, and concepts and methods of photographic creation will be taught to sharpen student’s visual perceptions and lens media. Students will explore and experiment how photographers and lens media artists capture and represent the physical reality.
Technical workshops on camera operation, post-production and colour management will be provided. Coursework is designed to enhance students’ ability in conceptualising a lens media artwork in the context of contemporary art. Upon completing this course, students are expected to be both technically and intellectually prepared for higher-level media arts related courses.
