This course, as a continuation of University English I, aims to elevate students to an advanced level in academic reading and writing, and reinforce the effective use of communicative strategies in English for academic purposes.

This course aims to help students: (1) develop advanced literacy skills and a critical understanding of the nature and role of academic discourse in the context of literature reviews and argumentative research papers; (2) develop critical and evaluative reading skills for extensive academic texts; (3) develop research skills and conventions of citations and referencing in academic writing; and (4) enhance oral presentation skills in an academic setting.
