Business interpreting generally refers to the type of interpreting provided in face-to-face dialogue situations that take place in the private sector. The settings covered in business interpreting can include business discussions, negotiations, presentations, trainings and site visits. Consecutive interpreting is often the chosen mode for business interpreting, though other modes (e.g. whispering and simultaneous interpreting) are also used.
Built upon the knowledge and skills learned in TRA 7170 Introduction to Interpreting, this course aims to enable students to further develop interpreting skills that can be applied to a wide range of topics and settings and that are often demanded from in-house and freelance language mediators.
Consecutive interpreting, including short-consecutive dialogue interpreting and long consecutive interpreting, will be the focus of the training offered in this course.
