This course focuses on the canonical social sciences empirical research methods. Research methods are the fundamental building blocks for social scientific research. Students will be able to understand how communication and social theories are developed and evaluated. Their importance, however, extends well beyond doing and reading standard academic research academic research. They are central to designing and implementing several real-world practical solutions, such as user experience research, product design, advertising campaigns, sales reports, public health campagins, polls, news writing and reporting, social media marketing, and other problems confronted by media and communication professionals.
