AI alignment is an emerging area that aims to bring AI systems in line with human values and harness the power of data in the service of humanity. In this course, students will engage with heated debates about data equity and accumulate observations of algorithmic biases existing in the major digital platforms. Mainstream data governance frameworks adpoted by governments and business firms will be introduced. In addition to lectures, the course will also include some hands-on practices that allow students to assess AI systems using the existing auditing tools on their own.
