In this course, students will focus on how to express, visualize and translate emotions through drawing. Students will learn how to articulate and integrate mental states into their subject matter through visual depiction of landscapes. Students will spend time visiting and drawing at different urban and non-urban locations, thus develop their skills by working with line, contour, shape, gesture, perspective, and tonal studies.
Back in the classroom, students will recall and describe the urban landscapes and their experience, to generate and integrate abstract, emotional, conceptual elements and observations into a visual representation.
Through drawing assignments, class presentations, discussions and critiques, students will begin to develop their own drawing language, strengthening their observation, compositional and overall drawing skills.
