JOUR3185 Advanced Broadcast Production (3 units)

This course aims at enhancing students' skills in conducting research, writing, videography and broadcasting, and will have two focuses. The first is to refine the skills necessary to produce a newscast, including live reporting, reporting fast-breaking news, serial reporting, multiple-location production and covering the local implications of world news events. The application of traditional broadcast journalism skills in the social media era, such as curation of audience-generated content, audience engagement and crowdsourcing, will also be emphasised. The second is to develop students' ability to produce a four to five minutes long video-based news stories independently. Run concurrently with the practicum courses, this course will prepare them for their internships and honours projects.
