The objective of this year-long project is to enable students to carry out a piece of highly independent work which could be the development of the solution proposed for the identified problem in their Year 3 study, or a related transdisciplinary academic research project. At the end of the development project, students will be able to demonstrate their mastery of knowledge acquired from the programme, in-depth understanding of the identified problem, and their ability to implement innovative solutions in a real-world setting, and to evaluate the solutions’ potential impact on the community. The implementation can be carried out in collaboration with an engaged stakeholder, or for a potential start-up. At the end of a transdisciplinary academic research project, students will demonstrate the ability to understand, criticize and analyse the identified problem with an original contribution in the respective field using a transdisciplinary approach. The originality shall be shown either in the discovery of new facts or theories or by the demonstration of innovative and critical thinking.
