This course investigates selected topics of the Chinese economy based on recent contributions to the literature. After introducing key economic concepts and useful empirical tools, topics with high significance to the long-term development of China will be chosen for discussion. By means of lectures, guided presentations and projects, students will learn how good research design and careful analysis of data can help answer important questions about Chines economy in a rigorous fashion.
