BIOL4047 Farm Management for Urban Environment (3 units)

This course aims to introduce the concepts of urban agriculture and develop students’ knowledge and skills in specific areas, issues and problems concerned with urban farming. In particular, students will learn about the different types of urban farming, considerations for the effective management of bioresources, energy and waste associated with the operation of a farm, logistics for the distribution of crops to customers and how to assess and manage risk. This course will be complemented by field trip(s) and sharing by guest speaker(s) who are practitioners in farm management strategies.
