Courses
BIOL2026 Genetics (3 units)
- Prerequisite:
- BIOL1005 Introduction to Biology
- Medium of Instruction:
- English
This course provides a general understanding of Mendelian and non-Mendelian inheritance patterns, gene linkage analysis, chromosomal variations, population genetics, evolution genetics, DNA replication, gene expression, DNA mutation, and recombinant DNA technology. From those concepts, students will understand how traits are inherited, how genes control traits including some hereditary human disease, and how changes in DNA result in variation, ultimately leading to evolutionary changes. Knowledge from modern biology is introduced to help students understand molecular bases of genetic phenomena.
