ARTT4007 Arts Tech - Special Topics (3 units)

This course aims to provide an opportunity for students to survey some of the latest contemporary issues and technological innovations in arts and technology, through a series seminars and workshops by experts and practitioners in the field. The guests are chosen for their advanced industry experience. They provide students with the latest case studies in practices, research, and development in the industry today.
The course also prepares students in entering the professional arena relating to arts and technology. A graduate in arts and technology may be entering the professional arena today through a very specialised career path, or it may be a patchwork of activities crossing all professional and disciplinary boundaries from art-making to applied design commissions, occasional administrative jobs to part time teaching and back. Graduates may work in a variety of contexts from self-employed freelancing, start-ups entrepreneurship to private agencies, corporate structures and the public sector. This course also aims at equipping students with fundamental knowledge and skills in a variety of professional skills that will help them to jumpstart their professional careers relating to arts and technology.
This course is made up by a sequence of seminars and workshops delivered by (external) professional specialists, practitioners, recent graduates, together with the course instructor. Each class may include lectures, seminar-style talks as well as small practical assignments, which allow participants to get initial hands-on experience with the respective area.
