SOC 7310 Globalization and Development: Visions and Issues (3 units)

The course introduces to students issues and debates surrounding globalization and development as two widely used and contested concepts. It examines the different forms the global development project has taken in different historical periods, and shows how they are based on unequal power arrangements. It examines also the uneven impacts of globalization and development to open up the possibility for a rethinking of the idea of development.
