This course provides advanced studies on Hong Kong (HK) laws relating to public affairs. Topics include the Hong Kong legal system, constitutional law and administrative law, criminal law, torts, Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO), Law Reform Commission, NGOs (Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), Hospital Authority, Red Cross etc), Disciplinary Procedure, Judicial Review, Ombusman Ordinance, Trade Description Ordinance, Employment Ordinance, Equal Opportunity Commission, Privacy Commission, Audit Commission, Human Rights and Refugees, Consumer Council, Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance, Copyright Ordinance, Basic Law, Competition Commission, Inland Revenue Ordinance and other special and current topics. The course tries to help students to gain comprehensive understanding of the relationship and interaction between public affairs and the laws of Hong Kong.
