This course provides a brief survey on Chinese society through cultural heritage. It explores and examines a number of important tangible artifacts and intangible attributes in Chinese culture and their inter relationships with people’s everyday life. Through a local, everyday life, perspective, this course articulates not just the intrinsic link between cultural heritage and society, the past and the present, but also the contemporary interpretation of cultural practices in an ever-changing Chinese society.
