VART4056 Studio Honours Project (9 units)
- Prerequisite:
- Year 4 standing
The Studio Honours Project is a self-assigned practice-based research project pursued through independent studies by individual students aiming at a professional career in the creative/cultural sectors. It is intended as a capstone experience for students to prove their achievement of the graduate attributes as defined by the BA (Hons) in Visual Arts-programme and the university.
To provide Studio Honours Project-students with a minimum of guidance as well as an academic setting, they are placed for the time of the Studio Honours Project within an assigned studio that fits the Studio Honours Project’s thematic direction, medium of choice or other considerations. It is expected that they work in the studio, utilising the available facilities and equipment, while at the same time contributing their expertise and efforts to the environment and culture of that studio area.
The Studio Honours Project by requirement must be part of the concentration pursued, and needs to be taken within one of the studio-areas explored before. The outcomes of the Studio Honours Project—in particular the creative work—are required to be exhibited to the public within the annual Graduation Show.
The Studio Honours Project is worth 9 units; every BA (Hons) in Visual Arts-student in professional mode is required to complete it in their final year of studies. Further details concerning the Studio Honours Project are elaborated in the Honours Project Regulations.
