UCHL1046 Whip it or Spin it: Badminton and Flyball (2 units)

Flyball is a newly developed sport from Taiwan which builds on the techniques of badminton, tennis, and baseball. Abilities to control the wrist and overhead movements are keys to play flyball and badminton; students could potentially transfer the techniques for badminton into playing flyball, and thus be able to participate in this new sport easily. This course will acquaint students with the basic skills and knowledge of badminton and flyball. Students will be led to apply fundamental sports science knowledge in analysing and enhancing their performance. This course also provides students with an understanding of the training methods for both games, and how the physical training relates to health-related fitness and sports-related fitness. Moreover, this course provides students with knowledge on healthy lifestyle, suggestions on how to develop an exercise habit, and how racket sports such as badminton and flyball can contribute as life-long physical activities.
