UCHL1045 When Traditional Tai Chi Meets Modern Health and Fitness (2 units)

This course aims to acquaint students with the fundamental knowledge and skills of Tai Chi and their relationship with modern health science and fitness. Mental wellness, balance, body posture correction, and kinematics and kinetics of movement will be explored along Tai Chi movements. Essential sports science knowledge for understanding concepts of health and fitness will also be covered. This course also provides students with an understanding of the principles of healthy lifestyle and various means to pursue it. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand the principles of the movements in Tai Chi and the benefits of Tai Chi in improving health and efficiency of daily physical activities or movements.
