UCHL1025 Have a Field Day: Outdoor Team Games (2 units)

This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the contemporary issues of health and wellbeing, while introducing them to a wide range of outdoor sports, games and physical activities. This course will cover Gaelic football, tag rugby, flag football, and soccer. These physical activities will enable connection to and discussion between fitness and wellbeing, in addition to promoting a positive attitude to physical activity. The course also provides students with an understanding of the principles of a healthy lifestyle for achieving physical health (including active living), mental wellbeing (including stress management) and social wellbeing (including social inclusion). Upon completion of this course, students will develop an appreciation of the importance of healthy lifestyle habits, and learn various outdoor sports, which can provide a tool for developing the aforementioned habits. They will also undertake self-reflection of their own health and wellbeing, and their experience within the aforementioned outdoor sports, games and activities.
