MUSI3085 Introduction to Music Business and Music Marketing (3 units)
The aims of this course are twofold: to provide a foundational understanding of the structure and areas of the music industries; and of key music marketing principles, terms, and practices. By learning about how the industry underwent drastic changes and what opportunities arose from the new landscape, students will have a better understanding of the emerging trends in the industries and to apply them to their own creative outputs. They will also learn about key promotional strategies, including publicity, advertising, promotion (online and traditional), digital distribution, touring, licensing, and radio, etc. Overall, this course will provide knowledge and skills for a professional career in music industries.
