The course focuses on incorporating data into investigative and explanatory journalism in order to introduce students to the understanding and application of data for news reporting. The course will also touch upon data source gathering, data analysis, data visualization, story-telling, news dissemination and audience engagement. Students are expected to find and utilise different sources and forms of data to provide evidence in news reporting, as well as creating data visualisations as a source of information. This course will get students familiar with the general landscape of data news producing and delivery.
