GTSC2025 Health Maintenance and Food Therapy in Chinese Medicine (3 units)

The aim of this course is to introduce the basic principles and philosophy of health maintenance and food therapy in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Students will learn a variety of TCM food therapies for improving common health disorders and disease prevention. Lectures will cover examples of TCM health food therapy and their functions, as well as acupuncture demonstrations, TCM Tui-na and massage techniques for weight control and pain relief. Students will also experience herbal tea and flower-based tea therapies for health maintenance, as well as Chinese medicinal food therapy in their daily life.
