- Medium of Instruction:
- English
This course helps students analyse ideologies and philosophical and religious worldviews in modern history, to understand their various forms and manifestations especially in contemporary globalized world. This course tracks various ideologies through their rise to their prominence in modern discourses. Their manifestations in daily culture such as films, books, media reports, advertisements, websites, performing and visual arts, and social movements, will be investigated. Such reflections on modern ideologies and worldviews will be taken to a deeper dimension—their concern for deep meaning as well as their ultimate ends that seek to transcend the temporal and secular world, and reach for the elevation of the human spirit. Students will be encouraged to develop their own response to ideologies with their own independent thinking and moral convictions.
