GCPE1025 Fitness and Body Building (1 unit)

This course aims to acquaint students with the scientific bases and techniques in fitness training in the sports of body building. It also provides students with an understanding of the principles of a healthy lifestyle and means to apply fundamental sports science knowledge to analyse and enhance the effects of fitness training. Upon completion of this course, students will learn the basic concepts and knowledge about the major components of health-related physical fitness, namely, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance, and body composition, with the emphasis of practical experience in localized muscular training. Students will gain practical experience in a variety of muscular fitness training regimens including weight training machines, free weights, calisthenics, fitball, body bar, and thera-band exercises. Students will develop a sensible approach towards body building contest with the view of emphasizing on health related physical fitness.
