CHEM3037 Physical Chemistry I (3.5 units)
- CHEM2005 General Chemistry
- Medium of Instruction:
This is a core course which attempts to equip chemistry students of any concentration with the fundamental concepts of chemical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics. The first two-thirds introduce the "Laws of Thermodynamics" and their applications in phase equilibria and solution electrochemistry. The last one-third dedicates to introductory chemical kinetics fundamental to quantifying chemical reactions experimentally. Students successfully passing this course are strongly encouraged to also take CHEM3007 Physical Chemistry II in a subsequent semester to fulfil the general requirement for pursuing a Chemistry or related postgraduate degree in the future.
